Dominik Rehák was HC SLOVAN’s third pick of the 2012 KHL Draft (105th overall) and represents another of the promising young Slovakian players who have shined in the youth leagues of Slovakian hockey. Rehák is the sort of player which every coach wants on his team, as he is an incredibly smart player, who seems to have experience beyond his years, and has already shown that he can contribute at a high level.

Rehák was made captain of the MsHK ŠKP Žilina U-18 team at the young age of 15 for the 2010-2011 season, and in the U-18 Extraliga he scored 26 points in 38 games. However, Rehák’s contribution went far beyond the scoresheet, and 2011-2012 saw him appear mainly for MsHK ŠKP Žilina’s U-20 team, where he scored 18 points in 22 games, showing that this season was really a breakout year for the young forward.

To be drafted by HC SLOVAN seemed to be quite the surprise for the product of Žilina’s youth system. “It’s very surprising to me. I was completely oblivious to it, and only found out when my agent told me. I’m not sure where I will be next season, but I am preparing for it like I would any other”.
