Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said he is interested in bringing Jaroslav Janus back from Slovakia.
The information is being brought by the official club site of the Florida-based NHL organization tampabay.com without giving further details. Lightning try to return the goalkeeper who spent this season in the Kontinental Hockey League team HC SLOVAN Bratislava. Janus previously fielded five years in the minor leagues in North America. Last year, along with a fellow goalie Justin Tokarski, he significantly contributed AHL team Norfolk Admirals to gain the valued Calder Cup.
Based on the NHL draft pick from June 2009, Jaroslav Janus belongs the Lightning. A native of town of Presov, he is currently fighting for a spot in the national Team Slovakia lineup for the May IIHF World Championships in Stockholm and Helsinki. However, he was said to be considering his departure overseas for the rest of the season. "Tampa has showed an interest in bringing Jaro back to their organization. This matter is now under the negotiations," the goalie agent Robert Spalenka was quoted for hokej.cz on Monday.
Naturally, any return of Janus overseas also depends on the attitude of HC Slovan club management as Janus still has a valid contract with the club until 30 April, 2014. According to the sports director Oldrich Štefl, this case is not expected to be decided earlier than after the Easter holidays.
