For their first friendly against Kometa Brno, HC SLOVAN Bratislava had almost all the players available during the Olympic break. The visitors from nearby Brno survived early pressure from Slovan, and took the lead in the 14th minute through a delightful individual effort from Burian – 0:1. In the second period, Slovan equalized thanks to the fraternal combination of the Mikúš brothers – the elder Juraj offered the puck to Tomáš, and the younger brother gave Čiliak no chance. Parity lasted only until the start of the final period. In the 42nd minute, Svoboda converted from between the circles – 1:2, and Slovan again replied, in the 54th – Tomáš Mikúš seized on a loose puck and picked out Bruno Mráz alone in front of goal, who backhanded into the top corner. Both goalies kept out further efforts to leave the final score 2:2.
No overtime was scheduled, but both teams agreed to penalty shots. Only Miro Šatan found the net for Slovan, while former Slovan player Kováčik decided the game in favor of the Moravians.
