A rich schedule of pre-season games awaits HC SLOVAN.
HC SLOVAN Bratislava will play 11 games in the pre-season period, all against foreign teams – from the Czech Republic, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Austria. Eight of the matches are in the European Trophy 2013. This is our club’s third appearance in the largest such club tournament on the old continent, where we will play in the southern division. Five games – between the 1st and 15th August 2013 – will be played at home in the SLOVNAFT Arena.
Unlike other clubs in the KHL, Slovan is not planning any camp or preparation outside Bratislava. Everything necessary for the ideal build-up is available in home surroundings, both on and off the ice. The team will most likely come together for the first time on July 11th 2013, when the official KHL pre-season preparation period begins. The first warm-up match takes place in a fortnight in Eden, Prague, against home team HC Slavia. Next come two attractive duels against Russian KHL teams: Spartak Moscow (Aug. 1st) and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (Aug. 8th). Both games start at 17.00, with both the Muscovites and Torpedo paying Slovan a visit on their way home from pre-season camps in Maribor, Slovenia.
In the European Trophy 2013, hockey fans can also see Slovan play in the Záhorie region and in Piešťany, where they face elite Swedish units Linköpings HC (Aug. 30th) and HV 71 Jönköping (Sept. 1st). The reason for these matches being played in different locations is that a rental agreement was made over a year ago for the whole SLOVNAFT Arena to host an international financial conference.
HC SLOVAN will most likely start the 2013/2014 season proper on Thursday, September 5th, away to HC Donbass Donetsk.
