HC SLOVAN Bratislava brings young forward Tomáš Matoušek into its ranks.
The 20-year-old player and HC Slovan management have agreed on a contract for the rest of the current season. Most recently playing for Banská Bystrica, Matoušek is noted for his tough physical play, thanks to his sturdy frame (190cm, 87kg) and should increase the competition for places among the young players in our squad. He is expected to travel with the team to Russia on Wednesday for a four-game road trip.
A player who can play on both the left and right wing, Matoušek started his career in his home town of Banská Bystrica. In the “rams” youth category he was every year among the most productive players. At 18 he had already played 30 games for SR20, as well as six in the Junior World Championship. A year later this talented forward was captain of the junior national team and was voted one of the three best Slovak players at the Under-20 World Championship. Last season his talents were noticed, leading to 26 appearances in a quality KHL lineup for Donbass Donetsk, scoring two assists.
We welcome Tomáš Matoušek to our club, and heartily believe his promising career will continue to blossom in the Slovan jersey!
