Slovan made the perfect start to the third game of their road trip. Yunkov and Petruzhalek may have threatened Kopřiva early on, but the following minutes belonged to our team. First of all Tomáš Mojžiš received the puck on the blue line and his shot gave Murygin no chance. Four minutes later, our third-line attack combined brilliantly, the rebound fell to Kukumberg and he found the roof of the net – 0:2. The two-goal lead didn’t last long, however, as Yunkov immediately broke away and reduced the deficit. In the 15th minute Vondrka and Miklík teamed up superbly, the latter swatting home between Murygin’s pads. But that still wasn’t all! Juraj Mikúš topped off an excellent first period up close with a powerplay goal.
Slovan’s splendid performance continued in the second period. Less than ten minutes in, Bartovič swept down the left and set up Netík with a simpler finish – 1:5. Amur did pull one goal back in the 32nd minute - Korotkov backhanded to Shishkanov, whose accurate shot beat Kopřiva. The goal seemed to spark Amur to life – they created several chances – but the scoreline did not change.
In the third period Khabarovsk had to try something to turn the game around. Kopřiva was kept busy with strong shots from Orlov and Bykov, while at the other end, captain Bartovič again broke away to test Murygin. A major chance fell to Fisenko in the 50th minute, but it was again Kopřiva who kept the hosts out. Slovan continued to hold out, even in a brief five-on-three powerplay for the home team seeing no change to the score. Towards the end, Čada’s charges played sensibly to protect the three-goal lead; Slovan’s foray into the Far East sees them pick up a deserved three points.
