As in the previous season, Slovan will dedicate one home game for the Slovak Association for Support of Children's Oncology as well as all paediatric cancer patients, their families, loved ones, doctors and caregivers.
On the home game against Dina Riga Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 19:00 h enroll "Belasí" in special purple shirt that has officially approved the leadership KHL.
All around the world, purple color is generally used in campaigns to raise awareness on cancer and represents hope for all cancer survivors. In last year's season, Slovan played in purple jerseys a memorable match on December 8, 2013 against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. They won it 5: 3, thanks to a famous come back in the third period and the first two spectacular Miroslav Satan's goal in the season.
The date of this year's "Slovan Fights Cancer" game has not been chosen randomly. The game against the Latvian side in the KHL of Dynamo Riga is the closest home game of HC SLOVAN from the date of February 4. This particular day around the world is known as the "World Cancer Day". The initiative of UICC (Union for International Cancer Control) is followed by more than 120 countries.
Last year, thanks to a generous auction of purple jerseys donated HC SLOVAN were able to donate 10,000 euros for the Association for Support of the Children's Oncology. This year, the yield from ticket purchase as well as limited edition of game-worn purple jerseys will be once again donated to maximise quality of life and achieve treatment for all child cancer patients at the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, as well as the reconstruction of the premises of pediatric surgery at Children's University Hospital at Bratislava Kramare where children from all over Slovakia are treated.
