Both teams started their second mutual game of the season with high speed. Already in the first minute Vondrka threatened Riga's goalkeeper Tellqvist with an unpleasant shot. A few seconds later, the home team made ​​themselves known and dangerous Indrasis almost took advantage of a misunderstanding in our defines but he hit the left pole. Soon after, Riga had a several scoring chances during a 2-minute penalty of Miroslava Satan for delaying a game. In the 9th minute, after Tellqvist's flaw behind the net, Tomas Mikus passed the puck to Bruno Mraz who fought hard to get the puck into the net but his last touch was with a glove and therefore the referees had to deny the goal. In the 14th minute, Michal Vondrka scored the first Slovan goal from the penalty shot - 0:1. In the remaining minutes of the first period, Slovan had several scoring opportunities, with Ölvecký attempting to utilise his attack on Tellqvist in Vondrka's manner but the Swedish goalie was cautions this time.

At the beginning of the second period, Peter Ölvecký made up for the missed chance from the end of the first period and after a hard shot by Štajnoch he managed to slid the puck into the goal - 0:2. After the second goal in home team's net, the pace of the game accelerated even more. The game ace , the game was moving quickly from side to side. Janus had to be careful while saving scoring chances by Marcel Hossa and Szczechura, his counterpart in Riga's net had enough work to deflect the shots by Radivojevič and Hudacek. In 28th minutes, Janus resisted a shot by Bukarts. The home side escalated even more pressure but Indrashis was not able to score. Fantastic Janus stopped another shot by Wilson and a further one from an active Indrashis. At the end of the match, the home squad as well have failed to reduce the score and Slovan were able to bring deserved three points from the capital of Latvia.
