HC SLOVAN Bratislava management edge ever closer to agreeing a deal with star Czech forward Michal Vondrka.
General manager of HC SLOVAN Maroš Krajči announced today, ‘I can confirm that we are close to signing a new contract with Michal Vondrka. I believe that the deal will be secured with his agent over the next few days’.
The signing of the Czech national team forward was one of the top priorities for the HC SLOVAN management this summer. However, due to the impressive performance of Vondrka in both a HC SLOVAN and Czech Republic jersey, a number of clubs in the KHL registered their interest in his services, including HC Lev Praha.
In his own words, Vondrka has said that he enjoyed his time with HC SLOVAN last year, and he quickly became a favourite of the Slovnaft Arena faithful. In the 2012/2013 season he was one of the top scorers on the team with 20 points in 46 games. The champagne moment of his season came in the game against Ak Bars Kazan in December, where his ‘Forsberg’ goal in the penalty shootout which gave HC SLOVAN a historic victory over one of the premier teams in the KHL. Bratislava was also the place of birth for Vondrka’s daughter Elly, who was born in early December.
