HC SLOVAN Bratislava have confirmed that Jaroslav Janus, who shone in his debut KHL season, will remain with the club for the 2013-2014 season.
‘In our inaugural KHL season, Jaroslav Janus was continually excellent and became the cornerstone of our club’s success. Therefore, we will continue with the contract into next season’, were the words of HC SLOVAN Bratislava General Manager Maroš Krajči when asked for comment about Janus, who has a valid contract with HC SLOVAN until the end of next season.
Janus, who is preparing to represent the Slovak national team at the upcoming World Championships in Finland and Sweden has been the subject of reported interest by the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL, the team that drafted him 162nd in the 2009 entry draft. As a part of the Lightning’s farm club, the Norfolk Admirals, Janus was a member of the 2012 Calder Cup winning team. However, Janus decided to return to Europe, and agreed to sign with HC SLOVAN, the team who he spent his final two years in Slovakia with before moving to North America in 2007. The Prešov native featured in 47 games for the club, and his performance significantly contributed to the Slovak club finishing in sixth place in the Western Conference last season.
