HC SLOVAN Bratislava are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman Tomáš Mojžiš, who comes to the club with extensive international, KHL, NHL, Elitserien and SM-Liiga experience.
Following the conclusion of the NHL lockout which saw Andrej Sekera return to the Buffalo Sabres, the HC SLOVAN Bratislava management searched extensively for a new defensive reinforcement for the battle to make it into the Gagarin Cup playoffs. As a result, Tomáš Mojžiš joins the club for the rest of the season, with an option to extend to contract to the summer of 2014.
The thirty year old defenceman began his hockey journey with HC Kolin, before moving to HC Pardubice. Mojžiš played the majority of his junior in the Western Hockey League, before being drafted 246th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2001. Mojžiš made his NHL debut in the 2005/2006 season, where he dressed seven times for the Vancouver Canucks. He followed this up by appearances with the St. Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild. In total Mojžiš played 17 games in the NHL, picking up three points in the process. Mojžiš is also a World Champion, as he was part of the victorious Czech Republic roster in 2010, while he was also a member of the squad that won the bronze medal in Helsinki in 2012. Recently, Mojžiš has been plying his trade for HC Lev Praha and HC Sparta Praha, where he scored four points in 17 games.
HC SLOVAN Bratislava welcomes Tomáš Mojžiš to the team and believes his performances will help the team to achieve their goal set in pre-season, to reach the KHL playoffs.
