HC SLOVAN Bratislava’s KHL quarter-final conquerors celebrate successful defence of the title they won last season!
Apart from overcoming HC SLOVAN Bratislava (4:0 in games), the Muscovites also beat their major rivals CSKA Moscow (4:1 in games), as well as SKA Petrohrad, winner of the KHL Regular Season (4:2 in games). In the final, Oleg Znarok‘s charges defeated Traktor Chelyabinsk 4:2 in the series, with game 6 in Chelyabinsk clinched in dramatic fashion, as Tsvetkov scored in overtime for a 3:2 OT final result.
A major factor in Dynamo’s triumph was Czech forward Jakub Petruzalek, who collected 16 points, but goaltender Alexander Jerjomenko also deserves much credit, with a 93.3 SV% and 1.74 GAA.
Dynamo becomes the second team to successfully defend the Gagarin Cup. The first to achieve this feat was AK Bars Kazan, in the 2008/9 and 2009/10 seasons.
