Brejčák to break the mould

HC SLOVAN Bratislava have received a further boost to their defensive ranks by securing the signature of talented young Slovak defenceman Ján Brejčák.

Brejčák has signed a two year contract with HC SLOVAN, expiring on 30.04.2015, and his tough physical style of play should be a great asset to coach Rostislav Čada’s team.

A native of Poprad, Ján Brejčák spent all of his junior years with his home town club, and made his senior debut at the age of 17 in the 2006/2007 season. He laced up the skates 147 times for Poprad in the Slovak Extraliga, adding 21 points during that time. His efforts did not go unnoticed on the national team level, and Brejčák was part of Slovakia U20 roster at the World Junior Championships in Canada in the 2008/2009 season.

The well-built defenceman (194cm, 86kg) will stand up to any challenge, and having spent the last two seasons leading HC Litvinov’s defence in the Czech Extraliga, Brejčák has experience of playing at a high level. 2012/2013 saw Brejčák make his national team debut scoring 3 points in 5 games, before being on the edge of the World Championships roster.

HC SLOVAN Bratislava wish Ján Brejčák a warm welcome to the club, and hope that he has a fast and smooth transition to live in Bratislava. We hope that he can continue his rapid progress while a part of the club, and hope that he can follow in the footsteps of other Poprad natives who have flourished with the club in the past.
