There was little time for the players of HC SLOVAN Bratislava to enjoy Christmas, as they departed on the afternoon of the 25th December for a two game road trip
After three difficult home games, HC SLOVAN embarks on their sixth away trip of the season. The players flew to Moscow on the afternoon of Christmas Day shortly before 14:00 CET in the afternoon. This trip sees HC SLOVAN test their strength against two of the top teams in the KHL, as on Wednesday 26th December at 16:30 CET, they face Alexander Ovechkin and his Dinamo Moscow side, and at the same time on Friday, against Ilya Kovalchuk and the plethora of talent on the SKA St. Petersburg roster.
25 players make up HC SLOVAN’s roster for the trip: two netminders, ten defencemen and thirteen forwards. Defenceman Martin Štajnoch makes the trip and could be in for a return as his condition has greatly improved and it is likely that he will start in at least one of the games. In contrast, HC SLOVAN will be without their young trio of Daňo, Mikúš and Luža, who are representing Slovakia at the World Junior Championships in Ufa, while Andrej Šťastny misses the trip due to injury.
The list of players making the trip is as follows:
Janus, Konrád - Ďatelinka, Mihalik, Sekera, Sersen, Sigalet, Štajnoch, Švarný, Tabaček, Trška, Višňovský - Bakoš, Bartovič, Bližňák, Dravecký, Hudáček, Kudrna, Kukumberg, Kytnár, Lipiansky, Miklík, Ölvecký, Preisinger, Vondrka.
The players return to Bratislava on Friday evening, and despite the difficult challenge of two tough opponents, the club is hopeful of picking up the points in Russia.
