HC SLOVAN Bratislava and Slovak forward Roman Kukumberg have come to an agreement which sees the Bratislava native remain with the club until 30.4.2014.
The 33-year old forward had a successful season for HC SLOVAN during their inaugural season in the KHL, and will continue to wear the crested eagle for the 2013/2014 season. A regular in and around the Slovak national team, Kukumberg has a great chance to represent his country in the World Championships in Sweden and Finland.
Popular with the fans, ‘Kuko’ has earned his contract extension because of his hard work and good performance in the 2012/2013 season. The hard working two-way forward impressed at both ends of the ice, scoring 22 points (11+11) in 56 games as well as being a relentless penalty killer. Kukumberg is also the only member of HC SLOVAN to ever win the Gagarin Cup (he did so with Ak Bars Kazan in 2010), was one of only two members of the team to play in all 56 games for HC SLOVAN last season, with Michel Miklík being the other.
Roman Kukumberg was the first of the players whom HC SLOVAN have agreed to an extension with, and the club have offered new contracts to a number of other players, so be sure to check the website as there should be more developments in the coming days.
The club congratulates Kukumberg on a successful 2012/13 season, and we believe that his performance from last season will continue into the coming year.
